Our approach

How we work.

Every engagement is different. Our process isn't.

Rigour without rigidity.

We don't arrive with a pre-packaged solution. We arrive with a structured way of thinking, and we apply it to your specific context, your team, and your constraints.

Our approach is built on the belief that good advisory work starts with listening, not presenting. We take the time to understand what's actually happening before we offer any recommendations.

The process

01

Understand

We start by listening.

Before we offer any recommendations, we invest time in understanding your business, its strategy, its structure, its culture, and its talent challenges. We speak with key stakeholders, review existing data and processes, and build a clear picture of where things stand and why. This phase is not a formality. It's the foundation everything else is built on.

In practice

Stakeholder conversations, process and data review, current-state assessment, challenge and opportunity mapping.

02

Diagnose

We find the real problem.

Most talent challenges have a surface symptom and a root cause. We're interested in the root cause. Using the insights gathered in the Understand phase, we identify the underlying drivers of underperformance, whether that's a strategy gap, a capability gap, a process gap, or something else entirely. We share our findings clearly and honestly, even when the picture is uncomfortable.

In practice

Root cause analysis, gap identification, prioritisation framework, findings presentation.

03

Design

We build the right solution.

With a clear diagnosis in hand, we design an approach that addresses the actual problem, not a generic template applied to your situation. We work collaboratively with your team throughout this phase, because the best solutions are ones your people understand, believe in, and can execute. We don't hand over a document and disappear.

In practice

Solution design, stakeholder co-creation, implementation planning, change and communication considerations.

04

Implement

We work alongside you.

Implementation is where most advisory work falls apart. We stay involved through execution, providing hands-on support, coaching your team, troubleshooting as issues arise, and adjusting the approach when the reality on the ground requires it. We measure progress against outcomes, not activity, and we're honest when something isn't working.

In practice

Hands-on delivery support, team coaching, progress tracking, adaptive problem-solving.

05

Embed

We build capability, not dependency.

Our goal is never to make ourselves indispensable. We aim to leave your team stronger, more capable, and more confident than we found them. Every engagement includes a deliberate focus on knowledge transfer, documentation, and building the internal capability to sustain the improvements we've made together.

In practice

Knowledge transfer, documentation, internal capability building, sustainability planning.

How we engage

Flexible by design.

We work across a range of engagement models, from short-term diagnostic projects to longer advisory retainers, depending on what your situation requires.

Some clients need a clear-eyed external perspective on a specific challenge. Others need ongoing strategic support as their talent function evolves. We're comfortable with both, and we'll always recommend the model that genuinely fits your needs, not the one that maximises our hours.

Project advisory

A defined scope, a clear outcome, a fixed timeframe. Suited to specific challenges or transformation initiatives.

Retained advisory

Ongoing strategic support on a monthly basis. Suited to organisations navigating sustained change or building long-term capability.

Leadership mentoring

Regular one-on-one sessions with Nikki. Suited to talent leaders who want senior-level guidance and a trusted thinking partner.
